Worker Safety
From Project Rebearth
Worker Safety is a choice that dramatically reduces workplace accidents at the cost of lower production output. It is one of the strongest safety policies available, cutting accident rates by 80%.
Effects
[edit]| Effect | Multiplier | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Accident rate | ×0.2 | 80% reduction in workplace accidents |
| ×0.9 | 10% reduction in food production | |
| ×0.8 | 20% reduction in raw material production | |
| Happiness | +10% | +10% happiness |
Worker Safety applies four effects simultaneously. The most significant is the massive reduction in accident rate, bringing it down to just 20% of the baseline. This makes workplace accidents extremely rare while the policy is active. In exchange,
Food production drops by 10% and raw material production (
Wood,
Stone,
Earth) drops by 20%. The policy also provides a modest +10% Happiness bonus, reflecting improved working conditions.
Details
[edit]Worker Safety costs 100
Knowledge to enact and has a 1-day lock period, meaning it cannot be toggled more than once per day. The policy is not part of any exclusive group, so it can be active alongside any other choice.
Worker Safety is not a default choice and must be actively selected by the player. Once enabled, it remains in effect until manually disabled (after the lock period expires).
Strategy
[edit]Worker Safety is a strong defensive choice for established towns where production capacity exceeds demand. The 80% reduction in accident rate virtually eliminates workplace accidents, which can otherwise disrupt production and reduce Happiness. The +10% happiness bonus further stabilizes the town.
The trade-off is meaningful: a 20% reduction in
Wood,
Stone, and
Earth production and a 10% reduction in
Food production. This makes Worker Safety less attractive for towns that are still growing rapidly or operating near the edge of their resource output. Towns with surplus production capacity, however, benefit significantly from the near-elimination of accidents.
Compared to Dubious Working Rules, which boosts production at the cost of more accidents and lower happiness, Worker Safety takes the opposite approach. Players must weigh whether the safety and happiness benefits outweigh the production penalties for their current situation.
