Import Focus is a choice that reduces import costs by 15% while increasing export costs by 20%. It is one of three mutually exclusive trade focus policies, alongside Export Focus and Neutral Focus.

Effects

[edit]
Effect Value Description
Export cost ×1.2 Increases the cost of exporting goods by 20%
Import cost ×0.85 Reduces the cost of importing goods by 15%

Import Focus makes purchasing goods through the Market and Port cheaper while making sales less profitable. The 15% import cost reduction benefits settlements that rely on imported resources, while the 20% export cost increase discourages selling.

Details

[edit]

Import Focus has no resource cost to enact and has a 14-day lock period, the longest lock duration among toggleable choices (tied with Export Focus and Neutral Focus). This means switching between trade focus policies requires careful planning.

Import Focus is mutually exclusive with Export Focus and Neutral Focus. Only one of the three can be active at any time. Neutral Focus is the default trade policy for all settlements.

Strategy

[edit]

Import Focus is ideal for settlements that depend on purchasing resources they cannot produce efficiently. This is particularly valuable for Arctic settlements, which lack raw material production and must import most resources. The 15% reduction in import costs effectively stretches the settlement's The Coin resource icon on Project Rebearth Coin budget further on every purchase.

The 20% export cost increase means that selling goods generates less revenue. Settlements using Import Focus should rely on other sources of The Coin resource icon on Project Rebearth Coin income, such as Taxation, the Tavern, or Market Stalls, rather than trade profits.

The 14-day lock period makes this a significant commitment. Players should be confident in their import-dependent strategy before switching from Neutral Focus. Settlements in a Trade Alliance can stack the alliance's 10% trade cost reduction with Import Focus for even greater import savings.
