Vegan Society
From Project Rebearth
Vegan Society is a choice in Project Rebearth that boosts
Food production by 20% while disabling all animal Field types (Goat, Sheep, and Cow). It has no resource cost to enact but carries a 7-day lock period, the second-longest among toggleable choices.
Effects
[edit]| Effect | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| +20% | Increases all food production by 20% | |
| Animal farming | Disabled | Prevents all animal Field types (Goat, Sheep, Cow) |
The food production multiplier applies to all buildings that produce
Food, including Fields (potato and maize sub-styles), Fisheries, the Bakery, Creamery, and Foraging Hut.
The choice disables all animal sub-styles on Fields (Goat, Sheep, and Cow). While active, existing animal fields cannot produce and new fields cannot be set to animal types. This removes access to
Milk and
Wool from animal fields, as well as the
Food those animals would otherwise generate.
Details
[edit]Vegan Society has no resource cost to enact, making it immediately available to any settlement with a Town Hall. Once activated, it is locked for 7 days before it can be disabled. This is significantly longer than most choices (1 day) but shorter than the trade focus choices (14 days).
Vegan Society is a standalone choice with no exclusive group and it does not conflict with any other choices and can be combined with any other active policies. Notably, it can stack with Dubious Working Rules (food production ×1.1) for a combined ×1.32 food production multiplier, or with Worker Safety (food production ×0.9) for ×1.08.
Strategy
[edit]Vegan Society is a trade-off between raw
Food output and access to the animal production chains. The +20%
Food production bonus is substantial, but losing animal fields eliminates two important resources:
Milk (used by the Creamery to produce
Food) and
Wool (used by the Tailor to produce
Clothes).
Settlements that rely heavily on plant-based food chains benefit most from this choice. The Field to Windmill to Bakery chain (
Grain to
Flour to
Food) and potato fields both receive the full +20% boost, as do Fisheries and Foraging Huts. Settlements that have not yet unlocked animals or do not use animal fields have no downside to enabling Vegan Society. Settlements with a strong Tailor and Creamery economy should avoid this choice unless they have alternative supply through Trade.
Vegan Society pairs well with Dubious Working Rules for maximum food output (combined ×1.32 multiplier), though the −20% happiness penalty from Dubious Working Rules must be managed. For a safer combination, pairing with Worker Safety still yields a net ×1.08 food production bonus alongside reduced accident rates and a slight happiness boost.
