Trade
From Project Rebearth
Trade is a core system in Project Rebearth that allows players to buy and sell resources with each other. Through the trade menu, players can create their own orders or browse the global market to complete orders placed by others. Trade requires at least one trade building, either a Market or a Port, and all trades are subject to distance-based transport costs.
Overview
[edit]The trade system becomes available once a player constructs a Market or a Port. Both buildings grant access to the trade menu, which contains two sections: My Orders (for creating buy and sell orders) and Market (for browsing and completing other players' orders).
Every resource in the game can be traded. Prices are set by the players themselves when creating orders, and transport costs are calculated automatically based on the distance between the two settlements involved. The player who completes a trade from the Market tab pays the transport costs, while the player who created the order does not.
Two settlements belonging to the same player cannot trade with each other.
Trade Buildings
[edit]Trade storage determines how many resources a settlement can have listed on the market at once. The following buildings provide trade storage.
| Building | Trade Storage | Cost | Workers | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Market | 1,000 | 500 biome + 100/50 off-biome | 5 | Available in all biomes | |
| Port | 5,000 | 1,000 biome + 500 off-biome + 50 |
20 | — | Coast only; -50% transport (does not stack, but extra Ports add trade storage) |
Ships
[edit]Ships are placed on water near a Port or Dock and reduce transport costs on trades. Different ship types stack with each other, so building one of each provides a combined reduction. Ships also provide additional trade storage.
| Ship | Transport Reduction | Cost | Placement | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small Ship | -50% | 1,000 |
-1/day | Within 100m of Port or Dock |
| Medium Ship | -25% | 4,000 |
-5/day | Within 200m of Port or Dock |
| Large Ship | -10% | 8,000 |
-10/day | Within 300m of Port or Dock |
Docks can be built near a Port (within 20m) on water for 20
Wood, extending the placement range for ships.
Creating Orders
[edit]The My Orders section of the trade menu allows players to create buy or sell orders. When creating an order, the player selects a resource, chooses whether to buy or sell, sets the quantity, and sets the unit price.
Players can also restrict an order to alliance members only by enabling the "Only sell to alliance members" option. Orders created through My Orders do not incur transport costs for the creator; only the player who completes the order from the Market pays transport.
Completing Orders
[edit]The Market section shows all open orders from other players, split into Buy and Sell tabs. Selecting a resource displays a table of available orders, each showing the seller's settlement name (with a button to view that town), the quantity available, and a price breakdown with three columns: base (set by the seller), transport (based on distance), and total.
Orders are sorted by total price. Players can only complete trades starting from the cheapest available option. If the transport cost is high enough that the total price drops below zero, the order appears in red and cannot be completed. A strikethrough on the transport cost with a lower value beside it indicates that the buyer or seller has buildings or bonuses that reduce transport costs (such as a Port, ships, or a Trade Alliance).
Transport Costs
[edit]Transport costs are based on the distance between the two settlements in a trade. The farther apart they are, the higher the cost. Several buildings and policies reduce transport costs.
| Source | Effect | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Port | -50% transport cost | Building (does not stack with additional Ports) |
| Small Ship | -50% transport cost | Building (stacks with other ship types) |
| Medium Ship | -25% transport cost | Building (stacks with other ship types) |
| Large Ship | -10% transport cost | Building (stacks with other ship types) |
| Trade Alliance | Export cost -10%, import cost -10% | Alliance type |
| Export Focus | Export cost -15%, import cost +20% | Choice |
| Import Focus | Import cost -15%, export cost +20% | Choice |
| Neutral Focus | No modifier | Choice (default) |
Trade Focus
[edit]The Trade Focus choice group controls the balance between export and import costs. One option is always active, and switching has a 14-day lock period.
| Choice | Export Cost | Import Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Export Focus | -15% | +20% |
| Neutral Focus (default) | No change | No change |
| Import Focus | +20% | -15% |
Settlements that primarily sell resources benefit from Export Focus, while those that rely on importing should consider Import Focus. Neutral Focus is active by default and applies no modifiers in either direction.
