The Port is a major infrastructure building that enables maritime trade with other settlements. It is the primary structure for establishing sea-based commerce and serves as the anchor for all port-related construction.
Overview
The Port must be placed on a coastline and requires 20 workers to operate. It is one of the most resource-intensive buildings in the game since it costs 1,000 of the local biome resource along with 500 of a secondary material and 50 Tools in every biome. In the Wood and Arctic biomes, construction requires 1,000 Wood and 500 Stone. In the Stone biome construction requires 500 Wood and 1,000 Stone. The Earth biome substitutes Earth for Stone, requiring 500 Wood and 1,000 Earth.
Once built, the Port unlocks trading and halves all transport costs, making it a critical investment for settlements that rely on importing or exporting goods. It provides 5,000 units of trade storage capacity for goods.
The Port also acts as a parent structure for further maritime expansion. Docks can be constructed within 20 meters of the Port to extend it, and ships (Small Ship, Medium Ship, and Large Ship) can be built from Docks to increase trade volume and range.
