It serves as the initial hub, providing basic housing and storage for all resources. == Overview == The Center provides housing for {{BuildingData|name=center|data=balance|resource=population}} people and stores up to {{formatnum:{{BuildingData|name=center|data=storage|resource=volume}}}} units of all standard resources. It has no construction cost, as it is placed automatically when a new settlement is founded. The Center consumes {{BuildingData|name=center|data=rate|resource=food}} {{Icon|Food}} per day to sustain its residents. This rate is the same across all [[Biomes|biomes]]. All housing buildings ([[Shack]], [[Hut]], [[Cabin]], [[House]], [[Residence]], [[Villa]]) and the [[Market]] must be placed within 100 meters of a Center, [[Square]], or [[Market]]. The Center is therefore the anchor point around which every settlement grows. The Center can be upgraded to a [[Square]], which increases the population to {{BuildingData|name=square|data=balance|resource=population}}, doubles storage capacity to {{formatnum:{{BuildingData|name=square|data=storage|resource=volume}}}}, and adds {{Icon|Coin}} production.
